WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE TOYS

1) The most expensive Barbie doll was not created for sale but has benn valued at USD 95,000. It features a total of 318 diamonds weighing in at 20.66 carats. Forty-four of the gems decorate her dress while the rest adorn her white gold accessories.
2) A doghouse created by Sanrio in Tokyo has 7,600 Swarovski crystal beads and is large enough for a Chihuahua or terrier. This miniature canine palace was created with the luxury couches made for larger dogs in mind. The doghouse sold for a reasonable USD 31,660.
3) The Breda M37 8mm Machine Gun replica by Real Action Paintball costs USD 4,999. This custom made replica can fore in semi-automatic, short burst and full auto modes. Being customade, it takes four weeks to be built and delivered.
4) Japanese toymakers Bandai teamed up with well-known jewellers Ginza Tanaka to produce the action figure Gundam Fix Platinum, valued at around USD 250,000. Representing two years of work on the part of its creators, this expensive toy is made almost entirely of platinum. 1400 grams of pure platinum were used in the 89 parts that make up this figure. Oh, and a .15 carat diamond was used in the camera eye on the figure's head.

5) The most expensive Star Wars memorabilia is the Darth Vader helmet originally worn by Olympic fencing champion Bob Anderson in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. It was created to give Anderson clearer vision while he crossed lightsabers with Luke Skywalker. The helmet was auctioned for USD 115,000 in 2003.

6) The world's most expensive surfboard is designed by Australian Marc Newson. The boards were plated in nickel and polished to a mirror finish to reduce drag. Originally sold of USD 100,000 a piece, one sold at a Sotheby's auction in NYC for a record breaking USD 220,000.


7) To commemorate their 40th anniversary, as well as their four billionth car, Hot Wheels commissioned jeweller Jason of Beverly Hills to coat an 18k white gold casting of their Custom Otto with over 2,700 blue, white and black diamonds. It's tail lights are actually rubies. Underneath the hood of the car, the familiar Hot Wheels logo is also given the diamond treatment. It is valued at USD 140,000.

8) There is the story of a yo-yo which was presented to President Richard Nixon at the Grand Ole Opry in 1974 by country singer Roy Acuff. The president reportedly attempted signing the yo-yo and giving it back to Acuff and when Acuff died in 1992, the yo-yo was solf for USD 16,029.
9) The most expensive Monopoly set was created by jeweller Sidney Mobell. It was crafted with rubies, diamonds, sapphires and 23k gold. Even the dice are encrusted with diamonds. Believe it or not, this Monopoly set is worth USD 2 million, certified by Guinness World Records.

10) The world's most expensive Gameboy is made of 18K gold and the display screen is surrounded by diamonds. Available through Swiss Supply and created by Aspreys of London, this little toy will set you back a playful USD 25,000. It it's any consolation, for that price you will also get a case, cables and a few games.
